Green Entrepreneur of the Year
Eco-pioneer Easydry has received the highest environment accolade possible on its home turf as Easydry Eco-towel inventor and company managing director Anne Butterly was named Green Entrepreneur of the Year at the Green Awards 2011. The Green Awards is Ireland’s most prestigious competition for environmentally friendly businesses, and Anne is delighted to be given such recognition. Her award was presented by the Minister for Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Phil Hogan T.D. at the ceremony on 14 April.
“We have put the environment at the forefront of our product development to ensure hairdressers and beauty therapists can embrace the freedom of disposable towels with a clear conscience,” said Anne. “Easydry towels are highly functional, providing a real alternative to bulky, over-washed cotton towels while also being more eco-friendly. They also take the strain off cotton production, which is the most polluting crop in the world.”
Over the past six years, Easydry has developed a disposable towel range that provides a solution for any beauty or hairdressing salon or spa, from small manicure to large bath towels. Anne, who was named Businesswoman of the Year 2011 just two weeks earlier in the Louth County Enterprise Board Awards, invented the Easydry Eco-towel seven years ago after she got fed up of her flatmates ruining all the towels when dying their hair. Since then Anne and her team have persuaded thousands of salons across the globe to embrace Easydry and end the wasteful consumption of water and energy used to launder towels.
Every Easydry Eco-towel is completely natural, made with constant regard for environmental impact at every step of sourcing, production and delivery. Easydry also simplifies salon life, freeing staff from the relentless drudgery of laundering, folding and stacking hairdressing and beauty towels, one of the most hated jobs in any salon. This means the team has more time for training and generating revenue, and owners can turn their talents away from having to manage a laundry system and concentrate on what they do best: running a salon business.
In the past two years, Easydry has been shortlisted for 12 awards. Anne’s latest accolade means the the company has now won eight awards for innovation, sustainability, export and entrepreneurism.
