Easydry The Better Way to Dry

An increasing number of beauty salons and spas have reported fires in salons as a result of the presence of oils and waxes in cotton towels.  Julian Parsons, of Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, has previously stated that low-temperature washes do not fully remove oils from cotton towels, which means that residues can catch fire in tumble dryers, linen baskets and airing cupboards.

He said: ‘The problem seems to arise when the wash cycle has been at a cool heat. It is now common to have washes at lower temperatures – sometimes as low as 15 degrees Celsius. At 40 degrees or above, the oil residue is more likely to be safely broken down by the washing detergents.’

A number of salons and spas now launder their cotton towels at lower temperatures due to time constraints, concerns about cost and environmental considerations. This not only puts them at risk of fire in the salon but worryingly, towels that are not washed at a sufficiently high temperature can still harbour germs and bacteria.

Easydry is an Irish company that was founded almost ten years ago and has created the world’s first single-use, biodegradable salon towel. Easydry CEO and founder, Anne Butterly, believes these innovative towels are the best way to ensure proper hygiene in salons: “Cotton towels harbour germs in damp salon environments. The only way to eradicate most germs and bacteria is the use of detergent and a high temperature wash cycle for each towel after use. However, this is seen as being time-consuming and costly in a salon. Salons should focus on improving the client experience and the standards they offer. Easydry allows salons to do this”

In this highly competitive market, a salons good reputation is their equity and the standards clients expect are higher than ever. As american business magnate Warren Buffett explains: “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently.”

Easydry disposable towels allow salons and spas to offer luxury, hygiene to their clients. This allows business to enjoy the convenience of disposable products and increased storage and retail space, but without the guilt.
